40th Anniversary Celebration

On 18th April, 2008 around 60 of our members gathered at the New Earswick Folk Hall for an extra special meeting. Besides our normal Spring meeting and AGM this was to be a celebration of 40 years of York IA.

Our very first Secretary Joyce Gallon made the trip up from Wales to be there along with our very first President Tom Matheson. All of our past Presidents came along and we invited National Secretary Anne Demick, who flew in from Ireland for the day, to come along and speak at our meeting.

Before the celebrations could get under way we had other business to take care of. Besides the usual manufacturers displays the business of the AGM took place. There was additional business as the committee had decided to spend some money on the stoma care clinics of two of our local hospitals. This had been made possible by use of funds raised throughout the year and a generous contribution from the National body's Matched Funding Scheme.
