40th Anniversary Celebration
We were joined by Joan Tickle, Stoma Care Nurse at Friarage Hospital Northallerton and Amanda Rowe of Scarborough Hospital who had joined us for the day and were to be presented with a selection of items we had purchased for their clinics.
Our President, Dr. Calum Lyon presented both Joan and Amanda with a number of Valley Cushions which are normally loaned by the clinics to patients after their surgery when sitting can be difficult. The cushions are pressure adjustable and can be adjusted so the patient can sit in comfort.
As well as the cushions we also presented Joan and Amanda with digital cameras for use by the stoma nurses so that pictures of problems with or around stomas can be quickly photographed and passed on to the specialists who can advise on treatment or whether an out-patient appointment should be required. We also provided portable DVD players which can be used in patient education.
