Coming to York for the occasion afforded Joyce the chance to talk with Albert Minskip, Lorna's husband. Joyce thought it was very brave of him, so soon after his wife's death to come to the meeting in order to receive Lorna's certificate of Honorary Associate Membership of the York Division from Mr. Matheson.
She began her speech by remarking that Mr. Hopton looked 'all right' on the platform!.
