A Memorable Day
Mr. Matheson wanted to thank Joan Thomas and Margaret Masheder on behalf of the Division for the many years of dispensing tea and coffee at the meetings, not just with unfailing regularity but with a great deal of cheerfulness and friendliness. Indeed, that afternoon, whilst the meeting was in progress they had unobtrusively set out nice things to eat on tables in the room next door. Some of this had been made by the two ladies in question, others by members of the committee and their partners.
In this informal setting, Mr. Matheson chatted with old friends, whilst his wife renewed old acquaintances. Mr. Hopton discovered some 'familiar faces' and made a number of introductions. Then, just before members and guest began to leave the centre, Brian Turner rounded off the afternoon by presenting Muriel Acomb with a bowl of beautiful chrysanthemums - expressing everyone's feeling that it had been an afternoon to remember.
