Q.   I have a water meter and because I need to flush my toilet more than normal I pay large bills. Is there any help for people with ileostomies and internal pouches with their bills?

A.  Yorkshire Water (and most of the other water suppliers) run a scheme called WaterSure designed to help vulnerable people who have water meters with higher than normal usage. In order to qualify somebody in your household must be claiming an income based benefit and somebody must have a medical condition which results in increased water usage (Crohns disease, ulcerative colitis, abdominal stoma etc.). The benefit caps your bill at 'normal usage', this means you will not be unfairly penalized for your condition. Futher details can be found on the Yorkshire Water Website.
